The "Best You"

There is no such thing as the best you.

This is a concept I thought about for a while. I remember all of the times that I prepared myself for something important; a date, a test, a job interview. I remember rehearsing to myself what I would say and what I do. And I can’t tell you how much the practice actually when to do anything.

What I’m arguing is that you cannot be the best you. I’ve winged so many things before, sometimes better than me preparing for stuff. I know that this isn’t good, but blame theater. They taught me how to improvise. And once I master those skills, it’s game over.

You can never practice for life. You can learn, but the best way to learn is by doing. Suffering in the moment, sweating during run, having your mind race as you construct your paper. I talk best when I just talk, let my words wonder whatever bright yellow road they want to travel. Within reason, I mean.

That’s it. That’s the message. There you go. Enjoy.

Be you. There’s no better version than the you in the moment. You have all the power to achieve all that you want. You have the power of speech and the power of action. We’ve been alive for too long not to make noise. So create a crowd shouting those ideas.

This isn’t just for whoever is reading this. It’s for me, too.
